Last summer, from June 1 to September 30, thousands of OG&E customers saved big bucks. In fact, over 99% of SmartHours customers saved money, with an average savings of nearly $200. And some saved $100 per month—that’s $400 during summertime months.

OG&E’s SmartHours Price Plan is no risk. At the end of your first year on the program, OG&E promises to credit your account the full difference if you pay more for electricity used than you would have on the rate you were on prior to SmartHours. And customers age 65 or over receive an additional $5 monthly discount during the summer.
It costs more to generate and use electricity during peak periods of high customer demand. Other factors, like weather conditions and the time of year, can also drive prices higher. SmartHours, sometimes known as Variable Peak Pricing (VPP), allows you to save when costs are lower, or off peak.
During the summer, peak hours are 2 to 7 p.m. weekdays, and prices during those hours vary based on demand (see chart). Each day, you’ll receive advance notice of the next day’s peak price—by your choice of phone, text, email or all three—so you can manage your energy use. On occasion, a critical event could be called during high demand. While these are rare, they can occur any day of the week, at any time of the year and last up to 8 hours. Critical event notices are sent at least 2 hours ahead.
It’s that easy to enjoy off-peak pricing from 7 at night until 2 p.m. the next day—that’s 19 hours each weekday—plus all weekends and national holidays. So all summer you’ll find shifting a little of your use can cut your energy costs considerably. That's it, just reduce your energy use a little during peak periods.

- Do laundry and run your dishwasher anytime except 2-7 p.m.
- Cook later in the evenings, or on mornings or weekends.
- Turn off lights, TVs and computers when not in use.
- Pre-cool your home before 2 p.m., then turn up the thermostat after 2 p.m.
- Shut off pool and hot tub pumps during peak hours (without affecting water quality). There's more, too.

GUARANTEED FLAT BILL NOTICE:
If you are currently enrolled in the Guaranteed Flat Bill (GFB) program, please call OG&E Customer Care Department (272-9741 or 1-800-272-9741) before you sign up for SmartHours. If you haven’t completed your 12-month GFB term, you may be subject to paying the difference between the amount of energy used and the amount you have paid. Customers who remain on GFB for 12 months are not required to pay anything. Current customers enrolled in GFB may want to wait until they have completed their GFB term, that’s when a renewal offer is sent, and then enroll in SmartHours. This will allow you to enroll in SmartHours and not have to reconcile your account balance.
